"Scenario Planning 2018-06-02-001 Further to my post on Treasury Bills of Trinidad and Tobago, here are some questions which are designed to challenge your thinking w.r.t. Financial Planning (use of cash flows), Taxation and Mathematics.

Although a link to the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago is provided at
the end of the post, some of the information which is provided is hypothetical, so please use this data as skill developing and be prepared to ask someone for advice or just assistance.

On May 14, 2018, a client is awarded TT$500,000 in Treasury Bills with a maturity date of 182 days and a price of TT$991.65 per thousand dollars. (Assumptions can be stated in your workings).

1 Calculate the refund which is due to the client on May 14, 2018, if they paid the $500,000 to their broker or to the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago for the Treasury Bills.

2 Calculate the price paid by the client, ignore transaction costs.

3 (i) Calculate the estimated price of the Treasury Bills on June 21, 2018 if the client decided to sell the Treasury Bills to meet taxes due on June 30, 2018.

3 (ii) Calculate the estimated price of the Treasury Bills on September 21, 2018 if the client decided to sell the Treasury Bills to meet taxes due on September 30, 2018.

4 If the client holds all of the Treasury Bills to maturity on Nov 12, 2018, would he pay taxes on the income earned and received in December 2018. Given that there is the opportunity to pay 90% of some taxes at December 31, 2018, should he elect to pay that amount and pay the final amount on those taxes in April 2019.State the reasons for your choices.

Here is a link to the revamped site of the Central Bank which some persons may have accessed if they read and followed some of my posts previously...

Btw, I am not seeing the results of the last auction for 182 days Treasury Bills so I will await the updates to be released and get excited again.
