As some of you may know, I have worked for short periods (a few weeks and so forth) in other countries.

Coming from a family where we each purchased groceries and we planned things down to the n'th detail as far as possible and giving our propensity to worry about :

Exchange rates,

Spending and such, for two of these trips I would have in my luggage:

Powdered milk
Coffee
Tea bags
Sugar
Some canned fish items
and several other items which would be packed based on the concept that:

If I arrived in another culture and either the shops were closed on that day and I had an emergency or

They did not have that size or that brand,

I might not enjoy myself.

Overall, I did not think about money laundering or anti money laundering back then and I managed to bring some of the items back as:

Very often I left most of the things unused, went out and ate just about everything I could find, walked about and generally had a good time.

So, the next time you are headed to Curacao or one of those places, let me know if you will:

Buy a kettle to use for your drinks (which you may bring back) or

Carry extra clothes or

Carry laundry detergent (for those hotels with laundry facilities) or

Buy a suitcase over there
